Requirements
Must be registered full-time.
- Masters are eligible for 2 years.
- Ph.D. are eligible for 4 years.
Need a B+ average to qualify (75%) for new Masters students.
Students will receive an email where they can fill out the application.
Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) are available to qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA, which is set at 75%. The awards are designated partially as employment and partially as a Fellowship.
- The 2024-2025 value of the GTA is $9,741 for M.Sc. students ($4,758 is the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis and the graduate fellowship is payable in one instalment of $4,983 into the students Laurentian University account).
- The 2024-2025 value of the GTA for Ph.D. students is $14,124 ($7,058 in the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis and the graduate fellowship is payable in one instalment of $7,066 into the students Laurentian University account).
- The value of the GTA is subject to same review for the coming years.
If appointed, students are required to work up to ten hours a week in some form of teaching assistance. GTAs are only available to students registered full-time in the first two years of studies in Laurentian's graduate Masters program and four years for PhD programs.
- Should an offer of admission letter indicate eligibility for GTA, it means the student has met the above listed qualifications.
- The next step is to register for courses in both the Fall and Winter terms of the academic year he or she is admitted to.
