Southern University & College (commonly known as Southern UC) is a non-profit private institution of higher education in Malaysia, offering diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across multiple faculties. Located in Skudai, Johor Bahru, within the Iskandar Malaysia economic zone, it provides a multicultural campus environment rooted in Chinese heritage while welcoming students of all backgrounds.
History:
The institution traces its origins back to 1975 as an advanced studies programme under Foon Yew High School in Johor Bahru. In 1990, it was approved by Malaysia’s Ministry of Education as Southern College — the first non-profit private higher-education institute in Malaysia. In 2012 the institution was upgraded to university college status and became Southern University & College.

The campus is situated in Skudai, Johor Bahru (Johor State, Malaysia), within the Iskandar Malaysia economic zone. The land for the campus (around 24–33 acres) was largely donated by philanthropist Mr. Seow Wan Heong.
