History
Founded in 1885 as the Woman’s College of Baltimore City by a group of Methodists led by Rev. John Franklin Goucher, the college was renamed in honor of its founders in 1910. Originally a women’s institution, Goucher relocated to its current 287-acre wooded campus in Towson in the mid-20th century and became fully coeducational in 1986. Over its long history, Goucher has cultivated a reputation for innovation in liberal arts education and global learning.
